Tinsel Glitter Nails

On 1 August, 2012 by Nicole

Sorry for the late post.  My husband and I got carried away hammock shopping.  We went to six different stores before we finally found the one we wanted.  Thankfully now we can relax properly after our shopping hunt.

On to my nails.  I was rummaging through my drawers today and found some old nail polish.  I was excited to find glitter nail polish that includes both fine and tinsel glitter.  Fine glitter is pretty easy to apply and keep up.  Tinsel glitter on the other hand can sometimes be challenging.  Personally, I hate when I run my fingers through my hair and get stuck on a strip of glitter.  Here are the steps I go through to prevent it.

First apply a base coat to clean nails, I use OPI by Sephora Strengthener.  Then apply a coat or two of your color of choice, I used Essie Turquoise & Caicos.  When applying the glitter I get a glob on my nail and then spread it out using the side of the polish brush.  Then I take the tip of the brush and make sure all the tinsel glitter is laying flat with no strips hanging over the edges of my nails.  After a few seconds lightly press down on the glitter with a finger to make sure the glitter is secure.  When you are satisfied with the amount of glitter and look on your nails it is time for a top coat.  Use top coat generously  to fill in the gaps between glitter and nail.  I tend to do 2-3 coats of top coat when I use glitter or until my nails feel smooth.

I hope these steps help your glitter last longer and keep out of your hair.  Off to relax on my new hammock!
