Mustache Party Favors
My husband and I recently bought our first house and decided to have a Housewarming party/ Open house. As I took on the task of getting the house into party shape and preparing edibles for the occasion my sister lovingly offered her assistance. We set out shopping for odds and ends and upon wandering the aisles of Michael’s Arts and Crafts we found Wilton’s candy molds. We (like everyone else) love mustaches and decided that mustache favors would be a totally awesome addition to the party. We bought two mold trays and four different flavors of Wilton’s candy melts and couldn’t wait to get started.
We spent all day before the party making 45 mustaches by following the directions on the mold. We melted the candy in sandwich bags and squeezed them into our molds.
Straying from the directions we found it was easier to fill the mold with candy and then insert stick because only filling the mold half way didn’t reach the stick. After the molds were filled and cooled we wrapped them in candy bags.
My husband worked on a foam display but ended up frustrated and so last minute we decided to put them in a few of my kitchen glass jars. We added some dry noodles to weigh down the containers.
As my sister and husband gave tours to our guests they held their mustaches up and talked in various accents. At the end of the tour each guest excitedly received their own mustache… People loved them and I am sure we will make them again.
