Moss Monogram

On 29 June, 2012 by Nicole

I bought an over the door hanger months ago and it has hung empty on my door ever since.  I have looked for wreathes to buy or make but never found one I really loved.  Then I found 1st Lady of the House {Pottery Barn-Inspired} Moss Monogram on Pintrest and thought it was super cute! As an added bonus it is much cheaper to craft than buy a wreath!

I bought a “B” at and my moss all at Hobby Lobby.  The letters were about $2 and the moss I used is $4.  There are two types on moss to buy.  I used the dried moss but there is also a sheet of moss that is $8 (what 1st Lady used).  I only used half of one package for one side of a letter.

First I laid down some newspaper.  As you can kinda see in my supplies shot, the moss is messy!  Using a hot glue gun, glue the moss to your letter.  I  covered my whole letter with one of the larger clumps of moss in the package.  Then I filled in my empty spots with the smaller pieces.

Using a table knife I lightly cut the backside of the moss.  This gently separate the moss in the places you wish to cut out.

Finish up by cleaning up the edges.  Wrap excess moss around the back and hot glue it down.  Add a ribbon for hanging and you are done.

This monogram looks adorable on my front door or inside the house.  It would also be perfect for a wedding or bridal shower.  Be sure to check out 1st Lady of the House to see how she put together one with the moss sheet.
