Mod Podge Jar

On 11 August, 2012 by Jackie

I seem to have a lot of Mod Podge and I am trying to find ways to use it up.  I found this idea on Pintrest, but when following the link I couldn’t find the original website.  (I hate that!) But anyway, I like this project and the end result was pretty cute. The jar can be used as a candle holder, or to hold make-up, pens/pencils, paint brushes, or even utensils for a dinner party. (check out my pictures below)  If you have more ideas on what to use this jar for let me know!

What you will need:

  • Glass jar.  I used an old jelly jar.
  • Scrapbook paper
  • Mod Podge
  • Sponge brush
  • Scissors
  • Newspaper
Lay newspaper down to protect surface under work. Measure scrapbook paper around width of jar and cut according to desired size.

Using sponge brush, start by painting a layer of Mod Podge on back of scrapbook paper. Lay scrapbook paper on jar; lightly smooth wrinkles or air bubbles away with end of brush.

Hold jar where there is no paper to avoid ruining design. Add a layer of Mod Podge to outside of paper, covering paper completely.

Allow to dry for 10 minutes and then add another layer; repeat until there are at least 3 layers.  Allow to dry.  To get edges to adhere to the jar, simply push with fingers around the round part of jar.
