How to freshen Toms Shoes
How many of you wear Toms shoes? I have worn Toms for a few years and absolutely love them. I am a huge fan of any kind of shoe one can wear without socks. I might even go as far to say I am an anti-sock person. However, one problem with not wearing socks is stinky feet. Let me tell you after a warm day working in my Toms my feet can get pretty smelly. I was talking about my dilemma one day with a friend and someone nearby made a recommendation to help reduce the problem.
The idea is to dry out your Toms after a particular sweaty day and keep them from getting to smelly. To dry them out simply pour some baking soda in your Toms after wearing them and let them sit over night. I tried it earlier this week and have to say so far my feet smell better. The leather soles even lighted up a bit.
To make this method more simple and easy to use I grabbed two old knee-high panty hose and filled them with 1/2 cup baking soda each. Tie the hose near the end and insert them in the shoe. Shake to form them to the shoe. Let the shoes sit overnight and remove the baking soda hose in the morning. You can either store the baking soda hose in a plastic bag or put them in the next pair of shoes.
I hope this helps you as much as it has helped me! Let me know in the comments.

Why do your shoes look wet in the second pic?
I am not sure, they were dry when I took the picture. It may be the lighting or because the leather gets darker from sweat.
If you have a pair of old tennis shoes, you can use a few fabric dryer sheets inside of each one. It surprisingly gets rid of the odor as well. It might also help with the Toms.
OOOhhhh thanks for the idea! I will try it out
Fantastic idea! I hope you don’t mind but I’m planning to link to this post on my blog. I published a large article on ways to use baking soda and your baking soda inside of pantyhose trick is brilliant.
Thanks for the link!
Another good way to eleminate smelly and sweaty feet (specially in TOMS) is to put special cedarsoles from zederna in your shoes. I tried it once and I was still surprised. It really works after a few days because of the “magic” cedarwood.
