Gold, Teal & Pink Nails

On 18 May, 2012 by Nicole

Today I decided I wanted to do something fun on my nails.  Summer is almost here and it is time to get out those sandals.  Ok, maybe they were never put away… but now they are in use more often.  Lately I have come to really like gold.  I used to be silver only gal but gold is slowly winning me over.

I started with my toes because I hate it when you do your fingers and then mess them up doing your toes.  First I applied a coat of strengthener/ fortifant by OPI as a base coat.  I have used this strengthener for a while now and it has worked wonders for my flimsy peeling nails.

The last time I used Sally Hansen’s Nail Polish Strips I had some left overs.  It had been a while since the strips had been opened so they were dramatically less sticky.  I applied a base coat the nails I intended to sticker, then applied a sticker as directed.  The base coat helped keep the older strip on my nail.

Apply two coats of color to remaining nails.

When base coat is dry find the wooden stick from the nail polish strips package to apply the dots.  Lift the nail polish brush from the bottle and use the tip of the wooden stick to get some polish on the end.  Then dot polish on your nail.  Repeat as many times as you want.

After I was done dotting I cut a strip from a nail sticker and applied it on my big toe.  Be careful not to smear any wet polish.  Apply top coat and let dry thoroughly before wearing shoes.

I did my nails last.  I followed the same steps as my toes, adding a few variations.

I applied a nail sticker first.  Then applied two color coats to other fingers.  I did dots on two nails, varying colors.  On my pointer finger I free-handed a tilted french tip.  Then cut a nail polish strip and applied it along the dividing line.  On my thumb I cut a heart out and applied it with top coat.

The hardest part of doing your nails is letting them dry before you mess them up… I hate it when that happens.  I am feeling more summery now with my summer nails and I am ready to wear my sandals!
