Chex Mix Top 5
Over the past four months I have made eight different kinds of chex mixes. I have liked some and loved others. I have to say, making chex mix is rather enjoyable. It never takes very long and the results are very yummy. If you are feeling overwhelmed with our variety of chex mixes or are having trouble deciding what to make first, I have rated my top 5 mixes. I hope it helps.
The Snickerdoodle Chex Mix is by far is my favorite chex. It must be the cinnamon and sugar that I love because Snickerdoodle cookies are also my favorite. The kettle corn adds a bit of saltiness and having both sweet and salty is wonderful. The only downside is with all the sugar it tends to get on your hands. Make sure you have a napkin near by while eating this one.Crunchy Peanut Butter Mix is my husbands favorite, I can’t help liking it as well. I made this mix for my husband and his buddies when he went on camping trip. I only got to try a few handfuls before sending them off but the boys loved this mix. When they returned they were all raving about it. This mix is also sweet and salty which is a perfect combo for a snack or dessert. As an added bonus white chocolate makes little clumps (my husbands favorite part.
Chocolate & Graham Caramel Cereal Mix is one of my more recent mixes. For this one I could not find some of the Chex cereals in store so I substitute other cereals. I enjoyed how easy it was to change cereals and keep similar flavors. One of my favorite ingredients on this mix is caramel made by brown sugar, butter and corn syrup.
I made Honey Nut Chex Mix around easter and used pastel colored M&M’s. It would be simple to make this mix for any holiday by simply changing the M&M colors. Like others this mix has a some wonderful flavors mainly the honey. When I made this I added some powdered sugar to sweeten it up. However, it was good both before and after the extra sugar.
Cinnamon-Apple Chex Mix is a great chex mix for those who want a little afternoon pick me up. The raisins and dried apples are a good combo for a healthy snack. This mix also has brown sugar and corn syrup to sweeten the mix but it is subtle and not too overpowering. Be careful not to leave this mix in direct sunlight, I did a couple of times and the yogurt raisins coating melted making the mix a little messy.
Let me know if you think any other mixes should be on this list!
